A qualified, expert guide will lead you through the centuries and highlight the masterpieces that no visitor to Rome should ever miss.
The treasure trove you see today originated over five hundred years ago, as a result of the humanist popes’ passion for accumulating and commissioning artworks: over 2,000 rooms display items ranging from Egyptian sarcophagi to Flemish tapestries, from Classical antiquities to ethnographic objects, from Etruscan artefacts to Renaissance fresco paintings.
Nestled among these marvels lies the world-famous Sistine Chapel. You will admire Michelangelo’s stunning frescoes, in particular two of his most well-loved masterpieces: the Last Judgment and the Creation of Adam. Your guide will enliven your visit by narrating the stories behind the celebrated pieces of art that grace these ancient walls as well as the characters that inspired them. The guided tour will lead you afterwards to St. Peter’s Basilica – the heart of the Roman Catholic Church – where the dazzling Michelangelo’s Pietà cannot fail to impress you and the colossal dome will arouse special emotions.
