The wine boutique hotel in the heart of rome

1,500 LABELS, RARE AND EXCLUSIVE

Wine isn’t simply poured at Hotel De’ Ricci – it’s studied, adored and most importantly, lived. Beneath the hotel, three meters underground, lies the cru of its soul: a 30-square-meter wine cellar housing the very best of one of Rome’s most important wine collections – that of Pierluigi Ristorante, which itself has an intense archive of more than 18,000 bottles and over 1,500 labels – 80% Italian, with the rest tracing a map from Bordeaux to Barossa.

The cellar reflects the singular vision of Pierluigi owner Lorenzo Lisi, whose deep ties to Italy’s great vineyards transcends borders and dialects. His intuitive passion has shaped a collection that speaks in vintages and whispers in tannins, shifting  between continents and temperaments, from Italian poise to French precision, from the quiet perfection of a Friulian white to the hedonism of Penfolds Grange. The De Ricci archive is legendary, rich in vintage verticals that few outside private collectors ever see. From Sassicaia, Solaia and Brunello di Biondi Santi to Château Pétrus and Chateau Mouton Rothschild, these bottles tell stories of time and terroir, of patience and pursuit.

Guests are invited not just to taste, but to enter the cellar itself and to explore, linger, and let curiosity guide the corkscrew. The experience continues upstairs, where in-suite wine cellars are tailored to personal taste: eight bottles selected in advance, chosen for mood, memory, or discovery. Private and vintner-led tastings can be arranged at any time, transforming a stay into a masterclass in pleasure and provenance.

Here, wine isn’t a ritual, it’s a conversation that begins the moment you book your room, and deepens with every glass. In Rome, no other hotel drinks quite like this.
